Effective
D Notes is an Android app by Damian van den Berg. This policy explains what information the app uses and the choices you have.
Your notebook on your device
Notes, checklists, attachments, preferences, and security settings are stored locally. Features such as recording audio or attaching files use permissions you grant. PIN and fingerprint controls help restrict access to protected notes; they are not a promise of end-to-end encryption. Android system backup or device transfer may also copy app data according to your device settings.
Optional Google Drive connection
If you connect Google, D Notes uses basic account details, including your account identifier, name, and email address, to connect the selected account. Backup, restore, and sync transfer notebook data and attachments between your device and your Google Drive.
The app requests drive.file to create and manage files it creates or you make available to it, and drive.appdata to manage its hidden app data. These permissions do not grant unrestricted access to all Drive files. Google data is used to provide these features.
D Notes’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Analytics and crash reports
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics for usage events, such as screen visits, feature actions, purchase actions, and backup or sync outcomes. Firebase also processes app, device, and installation information. Crashlytics receives crash reports, handled exceptions, and diagnostic context to help investigate failures.
Some failure events include exception messages and stack traces. These can contain file paths, filenames, identifiers, or other data involved in an error. We cannot guarantee that diagnostic information never contains personal information or fragments of notebook data.
Purchases, sharing, and service providers
Google Play processes payments. D Notes uses purchase records and product identifiers to verify and restore Pro access. Payment details are handled by Google Play.
Information goes to Google for the Drive, Firebase, and Play services described here, and to apps or recipients you choose when sharing or exporting. If you email support, we receive your message and contact details. We do not sell personal information. Information may also be disclosed where legally required. Google’s services may process data outside your country under their own privacy terms.
Retention and your choices
Local information remains until you delete it, clear app storage, or uninstall. Empty the app’s Trash to permanently remove trashed notes. Exported files and system backups may remain separately.
You can turn off automatic sync in the app. To remove cloud copies, delete D Notes backup files in Drive and its hidden app data through Drive’s Manage apps settings. Revoking D Notes’ access in your Google Account stops future access; it does not itself delete existing copies. Disable sync on other devices first to avoid uploading data again.
Analytics and diagnostics follow the configured Firebase retention settings and Google’s service retention rules. Clearing local data does not erase reports already received. Support correspondence is kept as needed to address your request and applicable obligations. Contact us about access or deletion; available options depend on whether we can identify the relevant records.
This website and policy changes
